On Sunday Jan 05, 2008 morning, US authorities issued a federal order to Web Hosting of Utah ordering them to hand over web servers to the requesting agency. Web Hosting of Utah, which provides hosting services for more than 2000 sites at its Texas facility, complied and turned over the requested servers, effectively removing those sites from the internet. Since the subpoena was issued to customer, the reasons for this action are still unknown to Web Hosting of Utah. Authorities stated that "they cannot provide Web Hosting of Utah with any information regarding the order."
